Canyon has introduced another new electric mountain bike and is expanding its range to include four e-mountain bikes. This new ride is called Strive:ON CFR and it sits between the gravity-focused Torque:ON and the trail-style Spectral:ON. This new model is aimed at competitive enduro riders.

The Strive:ON is almost perfectly in between Spectral: ON and that Torque: ON. Canyon starts with a carbon fiber frame, just like the Spectral:ON and Torque:ON. Like the Spectral:ON, the Strive:ON features a 160mm travel rear suspension, but increases the fork travel to 170mm. The big difference is in the engine. While the Spectral:ON and Torque:ON are equipped with Shimano’s EP8 motor, the Strive:ON is equipped with Bosch’s Performance Line CX motor, one of the most powerful mid-motors available in Class 1 e-mountain bikes are found.

With the Strive:ON, Canyon has created a fascinating e-MTB. Instead of trying to split the difference between the two bikes, attributes from each model have been adopted. The Strive:ON features the same travel and wheel sizes as the trail-focused Spectral:ON, while the frame shares the geometry of the gravity-focused Torque:ON.

The Canyon Strive:ON is ideal for trail riders who want bolder descents than the Spectral:ON can offer. It’s also perfect for the gravity rider who wants a more enduro-oriented design that climbs well and rolls over rocks more easily.

Like the Spectral:ON, the Strive:ON also features a mullet setup; That means: The front wheel is 29 inches while the rear wheel is 27.5 inches. The Torque:ON was chosen for 27.5 inches because it is aimed at gravity riders looking for maximum maneuverability and speed. Wheels front and rear.

Motor and battery

Components

Canyon produces the Strive:ON in two different versions at two significantly different prices. Priced at just under $6,000, the Canyon Strive:ON CFR Underdog features a 12-speed Shimano Deore drivetrain and SRAM DB8 hydraulic disc brakes with whopping 220mm front rotors and 200mm rear rotors.

Priced at just under $8,000, the Canyon Strive:ON CFR LTD features a slightly upgraded motor, the Bosch Performance Line CX Race, which has different software for even more aggressive performance and SRAM’s wireless 12-speed Eagle transmission and Guide RSC brakes are equipped with 220/200 mm brake discs.

Both versions of the Strive:ON feature an aluminum stem and bar; The bar is 780 mm wide. Both are equipped with a dropper seatpost that offers between 150mm and 200mm of travel depending on the rider’s frame size.

Both versions are equipped with high-quality DT Swiss wheels, with a 15×110 mm axle at the front and a 12×148 mm axle at the rear.

When a manufacturer releases a new model, it often happens that everyone in the market thinks, “Oh, that’s what I want.” The new stuff is always supposed to be better, right? With the Canyon Strive:ON, it would be easy for trail riders to believe that this is the better eMTB; The same goes for gravity riders, but that would be a mistake.

The Strive:ON is aimed at a specific target group. This rider competes in the E-MTB category of Enduros, an environment where an extra 100W at the right time could mean a second gain at the finish. Not only is this rider a competitive rider, he enjoys a level of fearlessness on fast descents that would leave most of us watery-eyed and white-knuckled, but the Mullet wheel setup means this e-MTB will pedal uphill and overturns.
