INTEGRATED SUSPENSION TECHNOLOGY | 6 ROD CONNECTION
Suspension characteristics were the deciding factor in developing the all-new Ransom as we sought to maximize the bike’s potential. At the heart of the all-new Ransom is a 6-link linkage, paired with our integrated suspension system, giving us the freedom to further refine the suspension characteristics. With the Ransom’s suspension setup you get a great pedaling platform, incredible grip under braking and fantastic support under full throttle.
The entire suspension design is a game of balance. Traditionally, compromises have to be made between leverage ratio, anti squat and anti rise and their impact on the frame structure and the frame layout itself. The 6-bar allows us to choose exactly how the suspension works, giving us more control over tuning all parameters independently, resulting in fewer compromises and better control of balance. By viewing the bike as a system, this flexibility allows us to find the optimal compromise between suspension performance, efficient load transfer and an optimized frame layout.
Shock access – Access to the integrated shock absorber is just a push of a button away. The downtube cover, present on all Ransom models, provides equal access and protection. The cover is easily removable – just press the button, remove the cover and impact access is guaranteed. The opening is spacious, which makes cable management and everything related to maintenance much easier.
CONSTRUCTION
Designed for demanding gravity use, the Ransom’s frame layout features carefully engineered structural strength. The ability to distribute load transfer evenly across each frame member gives the Ransom its natural strength and ensures a balanced ride. We chose the geometry of the new Ransom to combine different aspects for a confidence-inspiring ride in the roughest and fastest DH sections, but without compromising the bike’s agility and precision when required in tight corners and technical terrain .
The Ransom comes standard with 29-inch wheels and can be ridden with a 27.5-inch rear wheel setup. The bike is easily customizable using a simple flip chip and accommodates 27.5-inch rear wheels depending on each rider’s preference. As with many of our mountain bikes, the head tube angle is adjustable. Choosing between a steeper or flatter setup allows for customization to personal preference, terrain and riding style.
The Syncros Matchbox Kit is fully integrated into the down tube and contains a spare tube, tire lever, a chain tool and a multi-tool. This very clean and functional solution can be easily pulled out and stowed away again, so you always have the necessary items with you in the event of a technical breakdown along the way.
THE RANSOM PRODUCT RANGE
The Ransom will be available with five different models, including the HMX carbon Ransom 900 RC (Racing Concept) as well as a range of Ransom hybrid models (HMF carbon main frame/alloy rear triangle), including a special Contessa version.
