2025 Porsche Taycan Turbo GT debuts with up to 1,092 horsepower

Porsche unveiled its long-awaited flagship update on Monday Taycan series 2025the new Taycan Turbo GT.

The electric super sedan will be available in dealers this summer and Porsche has confirmed a starting price of $231,995, including a $1,995 destination charge. A Weissach route package is available and can usually be added at no additional cost.

The pricing makes the Taycan Turbo GT one of the most expensive models in Porsche’s lineup, but its performance comes close to or even exceeds the performance of much more expensive cars.

Updates to the 2025 Taycan range have added more power to most trim levels, and the Turbo S offers up to 938 horsepower. In the Turbo GT, a more powerful pulse inverter at the rear ensures that the twin-motor all-wheel drive delivers 777 hp as standard or temporarily up to 1,092 hp when launch control is activated. On the track, activating an attack mode increases standard power by an additional 160 hp for a period of 10 seconds.

The pulse inverter controls the electric motor. In the Turbo GT, the function has a rated output of 900 amps compared to 600 amps in the Turbo S. Silicon carbide is used as the semiconductor material in the pulse inverter, which, according to Porsche, enables higher switching frequencies and therefore improved overall efficiency.

Using its full performance potential, the Turbo GT accelerates from standstill to 60 miles per hour in 2.2 seconds as standard or 2.1 seconds with the Weissach package. The standard top speed is 290 km/h, with the Weissach package 300 km/h. This performance is similar to some top electric vehicles, but the track performance is on a different level compared to most.

Equipped with the Weissach package, the Turbo GT set a lap time of 7:07.55 minutes at the Nürburgring. The time is about 18 seconds faster than the set time Tesla Model S plaid with its own track package and the 7:05:298 lap record for series electric vehicles at the “Ring”. Hypercar Rimac Nevera. Porsche also set an electric vehicle lap record at Laguna Seca with a time of 1:27.87.

The Weissach package mentioned above helped the car achieve these times. The package eliminates the rear seats to save weight. Instead, there is a carbon fiber cover with a storage system placed in the area where the rear seats normally lie. Other elements removed include the rear speakers, the analog clock from the Sport Chrono package, one of the exterior charging ports and the floor mats. Along with other weight savings, curb weight has been reduced by 157 pounds compared to the Turbo S.

The Weissach package also adds a host of aerodynamic features, including under-body air deflectors, a new front splitter and a huge fixed rear wing. Together, these help increase total downforce to 485 pounds.

Both the standard Turbo GT and the version with the Weissach package have many of the Taycan’s available features as standard. These include carbon fiber accents inside and out, 21-inch forged wheels and Porsche Active Ride air suspension, which is specifically tuned for the Turbo GT. Carbon ceramic brake discs are also standard and are held in place by unique, lightweight gold-painted calipers.

A total of six standard exterior colors are available, including the new paint options Pale Blue Metallic and Purple Sky Metallic, which will be available exclusively for the Turbo GT in the 2025 model year. In the interior, 18-way adjustable sports seats with memory function are installed as standard. A badge with a Turbo GT lettering is located below the air conditioning on the dashboard, and the same lettering can also be found on the headrests and door sills.
