OneUp Announces Syndicate Sponsorship and Custom Posters for Athletes – Mountain Bike Press Release

OneUp is very proud to be the official cockpit sponsor of the Santa Cruz Syndicate. Jackson Goldstone, Laurie Greenland and Nina Hoffmann will race World Cup downhill races with OneUp handlebars, direct mount stems and chain guides from 2024.

Athlete poster

We grew up with posters of our favorite drivers on our bedroom walls. The syndicate on OneUp makes us feel like children again and we want to share this enthusiasm. We asked the athletes to create their own poster. They had a day to shoot with legendary freeride photographer Sterling Lorence while they were in Queenstown, New Zealand for prep training.

The posters are proudly displayed on the walls of the OneUp office. We hope kids and adults around the world pin these and get inspired to take a ride.

Boost Bro

Jackson Goldstone was born and raised in Squamish, Canada, OneUp’s hometown. Jackson lives less than five minutes from OneUp headquarters and is already a regular visitor. It’s really special to finally have him drive for us.

For his poster, Jackson wanted to shoot a motorcycle whip on the big hip at the Dream Track at Skyline Bike Park. He wanted to capture a specific moment when his bike was upright, just before it snapped back and fell onto the landing.

“My best description for it is a motorcycle-style turn-up whip. Similar to most freestyle moto guys, but it’s a lot harder since I don’t have an engine to bring it back.” – Jackson Goldstone

The hope

Nina Hoffmann started mountain biking in 2015. In 2023 she finished second overall in the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup. She also has a master’s degree in psychology and studies the effects of hypnosis on the performance of mountain bike athletes in a racing scenario. Nina isn’t kidding.

Nina wanted to make a statement with her poster and show that she is more than just a racing driver. She learned no-hands for the shoot and decided to do a ridge jump at Cardrona Bike Park, which she had never done before. It was impressive how quickly Nina got comfortable with the jump and perfected her trick as the clock ticked in the golden hour light.

“Committing to this shot made me really learn how to play a no-hander. I’m finally convinced of this. I think sometimes you just have to push.” –Nina Hoffmann

Loz

Laurie Greenland has swagger. The Bristol boy’s demeanor is so naturally relaxed that it’s hard to imagine he’s made a career out of absolute speed. But behind the simple smile lies a real competitor. On the downhill bike, Laurie’s drive to win is hidden behind effortless style.

For his poster, Loz wanted something a little different. He wanted to capture the feeling of a fast descent with a speedway-inspired pan-shot drift. Laurie’s work ethic was clearly evident on the day of filming. He struggled for hours across the gravel road in the blazing sun to get his shot.

“I wanted to do a really fast flat corner. Like a foot-out drift, a pan-shot turn. It always looks cool, a panning camera with blurry green trees in the background and slightly lighter colored dusty road for contrast.” – Laurie Greenland
