The DP World Tour’s Porsche Singapore Classic returns with the latest Porsche

Defending champion Ockie Strydom will return to the Porsche Singapore Classic at Laguna National Golf Resort Club until March 24. PORSCHE SINGAPORE CLASSIC

There is a misunderstanding golf is reserved for a specific faction. It’s a fair, but not entirely accurate, assumption. Join us for the upcoming Porsche Singapore Classic, which combines world-class competition with exciting sports and lifestyle activities to make the game more accessible to spectators, aspiring players and new followers of golf.

Some important facts you should know about the tournament are that this is the inaugural event of the DP World Tour’s Asian Swing. Participating players include 2019 Open champion Shane Lowry, PGA Tour winner Matthieu Pavon and recent DP World Tour winner Rikuya Hoshino. The prize money has increased to $2.5 million and Porsche is offering its latest Panamera Turbo E-Hybrid Porsche as a prize to the pros and spectators (more on that later) who achieve a hole-in-one on the 17th hole.

The DP World Tour events in Singapore were particularly important for Asian talent. Both Arjun Atwal (India) and Zhang Lian Wei (China) made history as respective national champions by claiming their tour titles here. Other top golfers in the region you’ll see on the green at the Porsche Singapore Classic include Japan’s Hoshino, as well as Kiradech Aphibarnrat (Thailand), Gavin Green (Malaysia), Li Haotong (China) and Kho Taichi (Hong Kong).

Locally, Singaporean Mardan Mamat won the Singapore Masters in 2006 and is still our only winner on the DP World Tour. And this year, all three international qualifying spots for the Porsche Singapore Classic went to Singaporeans Nicklaus Chiam, Joshua Yap and Irvyn Tan. So keep your eyes peeled for these emerging talents at Laguna National Golf Resort Club.

If you’re new to the game, this entry into the sport is suitable for everyone. At the Porsche Singapore Classic, a unique spectator village conveniently located at the beautiful Dusit Thani Laguna Singapore Resort offers a variety of tempting food and beverage options as well as fun social activities. These include putting challenges, shootout games and the chance for spectators to win a Porsche Panamera Turbo E-Hybrid. Make your trip a family one: Children up to 16 years of age have free entry to the Porsche Singapore Classic as long as they are accompanied by an adult with a valid ticket.

And why Porsche?

A natural question, but it’s worth noting that the automotive giant has been involved in golf since 1988 through the Porsche Golf Cup, a series of amateur tournaments for Porsche customers. The Porsche Golf Cup has developed into one of the company’s most successful customer events – over 17,000 Porsche customers recently took part in 261 global qualifying tournaments. Porsche is also no stranger to the professional golf scene as title sponsor of the European Open of the DP World Tour and is now expanding its presence in the Asian market as title partner of the Singapore Classic. Porsche Singapore has also supported the upcoming tournament with a fleet of 20 Taycan shuttle cars for VIP guests and players, and the Porsche 996 Swan will also be on display at Laguna National.

That said, if you want to take a look at the newly launched hybrid Porsche (and who’s taking it), see top golfers in action, or simply spark some long-overdue interest in the sport, wait no longer. See you at the Porsche Singapore Classic.
