The new Pagani Huayra R EVO

Pagani Automobili presents the Huayra R Evo, the new open car that enriches the experiences of customers of the Arte in Pista program. Focusing on this exclusive club of track hypercar owners, the Pagani team explored new stylistic and technical possibilities, creating an even more exciting and extreme vehicle.

“The Huayra R and the Arte in Pista program have expanded our customers’ experience with the Pagani brand beyond our wildest dreams and opened up a new opportunity for Zonda R and Zonda Revolución owners. The demand for the Arte In Pista program, where adrenaline junkies from all over the world meet to share their common passion, led us to think about adding to the program. It is our pleasure to share the Huayra R Evo with you and push the boundaries of performance and emotion even further. Let’s start by removing the roof and go from there…” Horacio Pagani, founder and chief designer of Pagani Automobili.

In 2021, on the occasion of the launch of the Huayra R, Pagani Automobili announced the launch of the new Arte In Pista program, a rich calendar of personalized events that will allow owners of the new model, as well as those of the Zonda R and Zonda Revolución, to participate at the highest level Performance level. The essence of Arte in Pista consists of non-competitive track events on the world’s most prestigious FIA circuits, offering both fast-paced sessions and relaxed moments. The format includes a full track experience and technical support from the Pagani team, including the technical director for data analysis, track engineers and mechanics, as well as a motorsport physiotherapist and nutritionist. The highlight of the program is the support of professional drivers who help improve the client’s driving skills.

“I was lucky enough to be able to compete in all Arte in Pista events in 2022 and I’m so glad I made the time to do it. I felt part of the Pagani family and the level of care and organization was exceptional. I didn’t have to worry, the Pagani team took care of everything, allowing me to focus all my time and energy on my new Huayra R on the amazing tracks we visited. My family and friends felt very welcome, which made the whole experience even more special for me. I think I should also mention the driver coaching and race mechanics who were there to support each event. Having raced in the past myself, I was able to appreciate the quality and level of detail. It feels like being part of a professional racing team with data analysis, driver coaching, timing and physical therapy.” MR – Owner of Huayra R

“The inspiration for the design of the Huayra R Evo came to me during a Formula Indy race in Nashville: watching the single-seaters with their aeroscreens, I came up with the idea of creating a car with protective polycarbonate surfaces and the possibility of removing both .” The roof panels completely immersed me in the fascination of the air and the captivating sound of the engine dawned on me. From that moment we set out to create a beautiful car, as subjective as that term may be, harmonious in its lines and strong in character. The end result is a true descendant of the Huayra R, one of the cars our customers love the most. We were also inspired by the elegance of the Le Mans cars that hit the circuit in the ’60s and ’70s, including the fast “Codalunga” long-tail prototypes.

On this stylistic basis, we have paid meticulous attention to aerodynamics, design and every minute detail, adhering to the high standards of Pagani Automobili and the expectations of our demanding customers. This fascinating project occupied the entire team for around two years and included extensive testing and participation in Arte in Pista events on the track. We have gathered valuable insights from our customers and worked closely with long-standing partners such as Pirelli and Brembo to develop world-class components for a powerful and distinctive vehicle such as the Huayra R Evo.” Horacio Pagani, founder and chief designer of Pagani Automobili.

Many of the design features of the Huayra R Evo are apparent at first glance: At the front, the design team designed a compact and aerodynamically efficient layout using a sophisticated system of air ducts to ensure optimal distribution of the cooling required for the brake discs. Brake calipers and the water cooler. This duct system is supplier integrated and supported, extended forward by 101 mm (approx. 4 inches) and features a special aerodynamic profile that enhances the vehicle’s capabilities. In addition, the double row of patches on the hood contributes to the aerodynamic load on the front axle, which is essential for maximum control when entering corners. From the front hood, the curved beltline and sculpted side skirts reinforce the impression of lightness and efficiency, creating a flow system that is essential for functionality in extreme conditions. It represents a complex fusion of shapes and surfaces that, on the one hand, allows the dissipation of air and heat accumulated in the front wheel arches and, on the other hand, contributes to the creation of an air flow that aerodynamically cleans the rear engine compartment.

These features are complemented by a 190 mm (approx. 7.5 inches) extension at the rear, which follows the “Codalunga” concept (long tail). The expansive and gracefully contoured rear hood supports the newly introduced central stabilizing fin and wing-integrated supports with metal side flaps reminiscent of iconic designs from the past. The bodywork is completed by a rear extractor that incorporates essential aerodynamic slats to optimize airflow at the rear of the vehicle. All of these developments have also led to an increase in the surface area of the aerodynamic underbody, an aspect that has been carefully considered when designing every detail of the vehicle and its handling to ensure that it is both extreme and intuitive – no matter whether you drive it expression of its design observed in the pits or in the car or experienced while driving on the most prestigious tracks.

The strategic collaboration between Pagani and HWA AG remains the cornerstone of the Huayra R Evo project, bringing to life the improved and improved V12-R Evo engine and unlocking the full potential of the new track hypercar. Equipped with the latest technology from racing, the new engine delivers 900 hp (662 kW) at 8,750 rpm and a maximum torque of 770 Nm, which is available directly from 5,800 to 8,2000 rpm. The Huayra R Evo offers excellent track performance with a speed of 9,200 rpm. The engineers at HWA AG and Pagani didn’t just focus on increasing performance; They also intervened in other important components, such as the intake manifold. It has been optimized with a new trumpet design and new camshafts to improve the delicate intake process.

Every line and surface of the new hypercar has been designed to generate the greatest aerodynamic load. At 320 km/h (199 mph), the vehicle, when lowered, produces a greater vertical aerodynamic load than its total weight when in running condition. Achieving this potential required precise balancing, maintaining a 45% to 55% distribution across the entire speed range and minimizing sensitivity to ground clearance. This design ensures stability during braking and cornering, supported by the contribution of the two movable tailgates and sophisticated active aerodynamic management strategies. The open roof is particularly relevant, as it unexpectedly increases aerodynamic efficiency. The open configuration increases both front and rear vertical loads, increasing overall downforce by an additional 5%.

The new cockpit ensures full forward visibility and adds a touch of elegance that is unusual in racing cars: from the inside, lifting the eye, a play of curved lines fits seamlessly into the roof structure. This means you can enjoy a carefully designed interior even during the most extreme racetrack sessions. The spectacle is accessible to both the right and left seated driver as the Huayra R Evo can be configured with either driving position. This underlines Pagani’s exclusivity and distinctive craftsmanship.

The Huayra R Evo features brand new P Zero™ slick tires, 280/680 R19 at the front and 345/725 R20 at the rear, which are the result of a comprehensive development process, starting with the structure, to withstand demanding dynamic loads. The increased tread width has expanded the vehicle’s performance limits and improved durability under intensive use conditions. The Huayra R Evo tires were specially developed by Pirelli Motorsport and Pagani Automobili using virtual simulation methods and are similar to the recent Trofeo RS on the road. They offer the gentleman rider maximum precision and a feeling of complete control. This is achieved through a novel compound that ensures exceptional traction when starting and stable braking performance.
