The 2025 Porsche Taycan goes further, charges faster, and all with more power

Porsche has unleashed even more power and potential with its Taycan electric sports car.

On Tuesday, the 2025 Porsche Taycan debuted with more power, more usable battery, faster charging times and faster performance specifications. The automaker has even included more standard equipment.

When the 2025 Taycan sedan goes on sale this summer, it will cost between $101,395 and $210,995, while the Cross Turismo models will follow in the fall and will cost between $113,095 and $213,695.

Porsche hasn’t yet fully laid out all of the changes, performance specs, or configurations, but what it does include brings buyers all-around impressive benefits.

The Porsche Taycan 2025 charges faster than before

Not to be outdone by Lucid and the automaker’s 900-volt electrical architecture, Porsche has become less conservative when it comes to charging the Taycan. The updated EV’s 800-volt architecture now charges at up to 320 kW under ideal conditions, raising the upper limit by 50 kW. Porsche said it has expanded the charging curve, extending how long the system should stay at a high charging current before lowering the charging current. The 2025 Taycan will be able to charge from 10% to 80% in 18 minutes, although the gross battery capacity increases from 93 kWh to 105 kWh.

According to Porsche, the Taycan’s new standard 150 DC/DC converter optimizes the charging speed of slower DC fast chargers when connected to a 400-volt system.

Charging ports on both sides of the Taycan’s front fenders are now standard and not just limited to certain trim levels.

Porsche said it modified the powertrain’s pulse inverter and software to adapt to the larger, more powerful battery pack. In addition, the thermal management system has been revised to provide cooling during both repeated high-performance driving and fast charging. A new heat pump was also installed to increase efficiency.

The Porsche Taycan 2025 goes one step further with more range

Porsche Taycan 2025 gains power and drives faster

Porsche hasn’t fully unveiled the updated Taycan powertrains yet, but from the base model to the top Turbo S trim, it’s clear that the Taycan lineup is more powerful and therefore faster.

The base Taycan with rear-wheel drive previously had 402 hp. Porsche said the 2025 model has 80 more horsepower than before, meaning the updated car should produce 482 horsepower from the factory with a single rear engine. According to Porsche, in the Taycan’s slowest form, this means a 0-60 mph time of 4.5 seconds, which is 0.6 seconds quicker than before.

At the other end of the range is the updated Taycan Turbo S, now rated at 938bhp, an increase of 188bhp over the previous output of 750bhp. In terms of performance, this reduces the Taycan Turbo S’s 0-60mph sprint by 0.3 seconds, with the car now doing the deed in 2.3 seconds. This makes it the fastest production Porsche in history.

The popular Sport Chrono package now features a push-to-pass function that acts as an overboost function, increasing maximum power by up to 93 hp for up to 10 seconds, depending on equipment.

Every Taycan 2025 features adaptive air suspension and the Porsche Active Ride suspension, which was first introduced on the 2024 Porsche Panamerais an option on dual-motor all-wheel drive models.

Inside, the digital instrument cluster, touchscreens and optional passenger display feature a streamlined user interface similar to the one first introduced 2024 Cayenne and Panamera. Every Taycan now features a heated steering wheel, ambient lighting, power-folding mirrors, a drive mode controller and wireless smartphone charging.

The 2025 Taycan will be the first Porsche to be delivered with the automaker’s lowered suspension Apple CarPlay integrationwith the electric 2024 Macan Consequences.
